Hamilton County 4-H would like to congratulate Søren Frederiksen on his scholarship award from the Ohio State Beekeepers through the Southwestern Ohio Beekeepers Association.

We are proud of Søren’s interest and dedication to beekeeping and his active participation in this community. The Ohio State Beekeepers Association supports new young beekeepers through the Ohio Partnership Program. The success of a new beekeeper is not reliant on the work of the student and money alone, but on the effort of the partnership. Thus, the Ohio Partnership Program encourages participation of the guardian, 4-H / FFA Ohio adviser, local Ohio association, and mentor.

Winners of the scholarship receive: Woodenware and tools for two hives, 1-year free membership to the OSBA, with electronic newsletter, 1-year subscription to American Bee Journal, 1 – year subscription to Bee Culture, OSBA Beekeeper Training DVD, OSBA Apiary Diagnostic Manual, and Free attendance to the OSBA Fall Convention.

Søren joined 4-H as a member of the Gorman Heritage Farm 4-H Club in September 2020. He credits part of his success to Club Advisor, Cindy Capannari’s warm welcome and her dedication to teaching his family about the value of 4-H.

Søren said he appreciates Dwight Weese, who was at the first 4-H meeting he attended, for sharing his knowledge and experience about beekeeping and telling Søren about the scholarship opportunity. Soren also thanks Yaser Almusawy, president of the South Western Ohio Beekeepers Association, for being his mentor and offering online classes for new and seasoned beekeepers.

Please join Hamilton County 4-H as we congratulate Søren on this wonderful accomplishment!
